Business Development Manager
Autoweb is seeking a Business Development Manager – Strategic Advertiser Partnerships to drive new revenue growth, position our brand in the market strategically, and expand relationships with performance-driven automotive advertisers.
This role will be responsible for identifying and closing high-value advertising partnerships while collaborating with internal teams to ensure alignment between advertiser demand and inventory supply.This position requires a strategic thinker who can position Autoweb as a premium performance publisher, differentiate us from competitors, and articulate our value to OEMs, Tier 2 regional associations, national auto retailers, and key auto-adjacent advertisers.
The ideal candidate is a senior sales leader, strategist, and industry expert who thrives on developing custom advertising solutions, driving revenue, and identifying new market opportunities.
The BD Manager will report directly to the SVP, Operations. This role will need to work closely and be highly collaborative with the GM of the Ads business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Market Positioning and Business Growth
- Develop and implement a go-to-market strategy that differentiates Autoweb and its premium network as a premium performance publisher, positioning our high-intent, brand-agnostic audience as a unique value proposition.
- Work with leadership to refine competitive positioning, ensuring Autoweb is presented as a viable alternative or complement to Google Search, social media, and auto marketplaces.
- Use data-driven storytelling to demonstrate how our ad products outperform traditional search in cost-per-click (CPC), conversion rate, Cost-per-action (CPA) and return on ad spend (ROAS).
2. New Advertiser Acquisition & Revenue Growth
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting, pitching, and closing new advertisers in National Retailers and Tier 2 Regional Associations.
- Develop custom advertising solutions, leveraging Autoweb’s dynamic inventory ads, VIN-based targeting, native ad formats.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, achieving $500K per quarter in new advertiser revenue.
3. Strategic Advertiser Solutions & Collaboration with Internal Teams
- Partner with the GM of Ads to ensure seamless handoff and post-sale strategy development for long-term success and upsell opportunities.
- Collaborate with Ad Ops to align campaign execution with advertiser performance goals.
- Work with the Publisher Manager to identify underutilized ad inventory and proactively bring advertisers who match that supply into our marketplace.
- Guide pricing and inventory allocation strategies to optimize RPC (revenue per click) and overall revenue growth.
5. Thought Leadership & Industry Positioning
- Represent Autoweb at industry events, conferences, and webinars, positioning us as a leader in performance-driven automotive advertising.
- Build relationships with advertising agencies, media buyers, and direct brands to drive awareness and credibility in the space.
Your Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years in digital advertising sales, business development, or media partnerships (automotive experience preferred).
- Deep understanding of performance-driven advertising, including search, programmatic, and direct media buys.
- Strong industry connections with auto advertisers, national retailers, or Tier 2 agencies.
- Experience positioning premium publisher inventory against Google, Facebook, and auto marketplaces.
- Comfortable in a strategic, consultative sales environment—able to analyze data, build narratives, and close high-value deals.
Compensation will be determined by factors including knowledge and skills, role-specific qualifications, and experience.
